It Might Not Be a Mistake You Can Learn From.

Call ACME for professional, affordable inspection and work on your wiring.

Most residential electrical wiring is behind walls, so be aware of these potential signs of wiring problems. If you experience them, Contact ACME for a diagnostic site visit:

  • Flickering and Dimming Lights
Regularly flickering or dimming lights on one circuit. (Across the whole, house, it could also mean wiring or an under-sized electric panel.)
  • Buzzing, Humming, Shocking
Buzzing, humming or shocking when you turn on a light could mean a number of different issues, including faulty wiring. Call ACME immediately if some buzzing or mild shocking is felt in addition to being heard.
  • Hot Outlets
If an electrical outlet ever feels hot, there’s likely a serious and dangerous problem in the outlet or the wiring on that circuit. Call ACME immediately for an inspection, and don’t use the outlet before you learn why it’s hot.
  • Faulty GFI Outlets
Ground Fault Interrupters (GFIs) on outlets are required by code in areas where water is present, such as sinks and tubs, and crawl spaces. They should be tested regularly, and if they’re faulty, there could be wiring issues or need of new GFIs.
  • The Scent of Burning
Any time you smell the scent of burning plastic or vinyl, and you can’t find the source of it, or it seems to be coming from behind walls or in a ceiling, call ACME immediately to inspect the wiring. If smoke or fire is present, call 911.
